The goal at True Self True Dad is to engage men of all races, classes, genders, orientations and abilities in conversations about what it means to be male and what it means to be a father. Many men live with a definition of masculinity and manhood that they learned growing up, but have never really explored, let alone questioned.
We at TSTD believe it is time for us to do both -- explore and question those norms and ask ourselves honestly: Is this really the man I want to be? Each of us is unique, and each should define masculinity for themself. With that definition in hand, each of us can then become, in the world, our genuine self, regardless of what others believe. There is power and liberation in this process, and it will help us be better fathers.
This process won't be easy, so we are committed to creating a safe space for these discussions, apart from the polarization and contentiousness that are common in public conversation these days. As a community of men, we'll take on challenging issues and discuss prickly topics. You may have questions that you are afraid to ask for fear of being chastised politically or being judged. Those questions will be welcome here and answered and discussed without judgement.
Welcome to the website, which is only recently launched. More content will be available soon.
